Mechanical rectifier for capturing energy from ocean waves

Design and manufacture of a prototype that modulates and tempers the variable and cyclical energy generated by the waves of the sea, converting it into useful mechanical energy with minimal losses.

Project description

In a world in constant search of sustainable energy solutions, the company ZIMERGREEN S.L. has focused on the power of the ocean. It is a pioneer in the research and development of wave energy technologies, which is dedicated to capturing the inexhaustible force of the waves of the sea to convert it into clean and renewable electricity. Through constant innovation and cutting-edge engineering, it works to overcome technical and economic challenges, taking wave energy from promise to reality.

This project consists of the design and manufacture of a mechanical prototype to convert the hydrodynamic movement of waves into mechanical energy for better use.

As this project will be patented, one of the premises of the patent body is that it requests the creation of 5 prototypes before their installation at the Mutriku facilities.

The Llodio centre has collaborated in the production of the first prototype, as it has assembled and commissioned the functional prototype of the turbine on a small scale, reproducing and documenting the operating principle on which it is based.

This first prototype, after a series of adaptations, is intended to test and demonstrate its operation in the FLUME fluid mechanics laboratory of the UPV.
