Redesign and improvement of Universo Marziano products

The main objective of the project was to extend the shelf life of several selected confectionery products by implementing preservation techniques for the company Universo Marziano.

Project description

The company Universo Marziano SL makes the most delicious sweets in the galaxy, defining it on its website as Juicy, delicious and healthy! since they are made with:

✔️ Zero added sugars

✔️ Zero palm oil

✔️ Zero rare ingredients that Earthlings use

In order for these delicious healthy donuts, called Marzianos, to reach the consumer with the greatest guarantees of quality and freshness, this project has been carried out and to extend the shelf life of several of its products through the implementation of specific conservation techniques for the company.

The development of the project has been carried out by dividing it into 2 phases, where it has initially focused on the search for the formula to improve the conservation of the products, extending their expiration date, to move on to the second phase, in which the development of new products and their scaling for marketing has been worked on.

Thus, in addition to the main objective of extending the shelf life of its products, other important objectives for the company have also been achieved, such as adjusting production costs and basing the value proposition on circular economy and sustainability criteria.

The Basque food laboratory may be required for small adjustments or information after the pilot test in the plant to achieve the expected results at the end of the project.

Finally, the transfer of the developed knowledge to the educational community has been carried out, describing the work carried out, its adaptation and scaling in the production process together with the innovation of raw materials used.
